Langlaufen ist durch seine Wirkung auf die Gesundheit und die vom Klimawandel betroffenen Winter eng mit Nachhaltigkeit verbunden. ESG-Berichterstattung beinhaltet ökologische, soziale und wirtschaftliche Faktoren (environmental / social / governance), und liefert für die Unternehmens-Strategie-Erstellung wertvolle Elemente. Für einen 360° Blick entschieden wir uns für den VSME Nachhaltigkeits-Berichtsstandard der EU. Dieser freiwillige Standard für nicht börsennotierte Kleinst-, Klein- und mittlere Unternehmen ist zu den UN sustainable development goals (SDGs) und zum CSRD/ESRS Berichtsstandard für große Unternehmen kompatibel.

Gesundheit durch Langlaufen - positive Wirkung von Langlaufen

Langlaufen ist eine der gesündesten Wintersportarten. Warum?

  • Entspannung: Naturgenuss im Schnee tut der Psyche gut. Das bestätigen uns laufend unsere Gäste. Abschalten und je nach Wahl auspowern oder genießen, z.B. beim Langlaufen in Seefeld.
  • Fast jeder der ca. 650 Muskeln des Körpers arbeitet an der Fortbewegung mit, damit ist Langlaufen eine der gesündesten Ausdauersportarten. Langlauf stärkt Muskulatur, Blutzusammensetzung, Kreislauf, Herz und Lunge. 
  • Haltungstraining: Die Beinarbeit dominiert, gleichzeitig wird der Oberkörper im Bauch-, Schulter und Rückenbereich optimal trainiert. Damit wird Fehlhaltungen (Büro-Haltung) und Rückenbeschwerden optimal vorgebeugt. 
  • Schnelles Gleiten auf einem Bein, zusammen mit geländeorientiert unterschiedlichen Bewegungen für die verschiedenen Skating- und Klassiktechniken, stellt hohe Anforderungen an die Koordination und Rhytmisierung. Skating nennt man nicht umsonst "Tanzen auf Ski".
  • Sicherheit: Von allen Schisportarten ist die Verletzungsgefahr beim Langlaufen am niedrigsten. In der Saison 2024/25 lag das Verletzungsrisiko während des Langlaufunterrichts bei uns bei nur 0,04%, für Sportunterricht ein extrem niedriger Wert.

Wir bieten Langlaufunterricht sowohl für Privatkunden als auch für Unternehmen als Weiterbildung im Rahmen der betrieblichen Gesundheitsvorsorge an.

Klimawandel - unsere Auswirkungen, Chancen und Risiken

Auswirkungen

Über eine Analyse mit dem ESG-Cockpit von Akaryon gingen wir seit 2023 unseren eigenen Auswirkungen auf den Grund. Nach dem greenhousegas-protocol werden Emissionen in drei Scopes unterschieden:

  • Scope 1 direkte Treibhausgasemissionen des Unternehmens: Hier liegen wir seit 2024 auf Null, weil wir keine Treibstoffe kaufen, Elektroauto fährt mit Tiroler Öko-Strom.
  • Scope 2 für eingekaufte Energie aus Strom, Dampf, Wärme oder Kühlung liegt in unserem Fall ebenfalls nahe Null, durch Verwendung erneuerbarer Energie. Tirol hat dazu einen Standortvorteil.
  • Scope 3 beinhaltet daher fast alle unserer Treibhausgas-Emissionen, plus wichtige Partner und Gäste-Reisen. Zusammengekommen sind das in der Saison 2024/25 7 kg CO2 je Personenunterrichtsstunde (1h * 1 Teilnehmer*in). Diese wiederum setzen sich zusammen aus:

20% Eigenanteil Langlaufschule & genützte Infrastruktur:

  • 12% Emissionen oder ca. 0,8 kg CO2 je Personenunterrichtsstunde stammen aus dem Pendeln von uns als Langlaufschul-Lehrer*innen Team. Durch 70% Wege-Anteil mit der Karwendelbahn und Elektromobilität konnten wir dieser Emissionswert sehr stark senken. 
  • 5% anrechenbare Emissionen aus der täglichen Loipenpräparierung und Kunstschnee für das anteilsmäßig mit Gästen genützte Übungsgelände.
  • 2% unsere Ausrüstung (Abschreibung davon). Hier v.a. Langlaufschi und Kleidung. Fischer und Löffler produzieren überwiegend in Europa, mit kurzen Lieferketten, hoher Qualität und Produktlebensdauer. Löffler trägt das OEKO-Tex® STeP - Zertifikat, die höchste Qualifikation für umweltfreundliche und sozialverträgliche Textil-Produktion, und gewann 2024 den deutschen Nachhaltigkeitspreis.

80% CO2-Emissionen stammen aus der An- und Abreise unserer Gäste.

Dieser Wert, ca. 5,5 kg CO2 je Unterrichtsstunde, ist etwas schwierig zu berechnen, die Größenordnung dürfte aber stimmen. Wir verwendeten den Gesamtausstoß der Urlaubsreise, ermittelt aus Herkunftsländern (50% D, 20% A, je 5% CH, NL, GB, Rest 20 weltweite Länder) statistischen Daten zu Verkehrsmitteln, und dividierten aus diesem einen Anteil für Langlaufunterricht, entsprechend zu Durchschnittsausgaben für Unterricht im Vergleich zu statistischen Gesamtausgaben am Urlaubsort.

 

Wie können wir den Reise-Fußabdruck optimieren:

  1. Wenn möglich mit Fahrgemeinschaften anreisen.
  2. Oder mit der Bahn, Seefeld ist sehr gut an das Bahnnetz aus München und Innsbruck angebunden.
  3. Länger bleiben verringert Reise-Fußabdruck pro Tag, insbesondere bei Flugreisen, enorm.

Klimaneutralität lässt sich wegen dieser Verteilung kurz- bis mittelfristig nur über Kompensationsmaßnahmen erzielen, diese evaluieren wir.

Chancen aus dem Klimawandel

Wenn es wärmer wird, suchen Urlauber um so mehr nach kühlen Zufluchtsorten und Abwechslung im Schnee, ergab eine Studie der Uni Köln 2023. Und auch wenn es ein bisschen makaber ist, profitieren wir momentan vom Klimawandel, weil Gäste schneesichere Gebiete wie Seefeld suchen. Durch die Höhenlage auf 1200m und Möglichkeiten zur künstlichen Beschneiung sind wir von Ende November bis Mitte März schneesicher.

 

Risiken aus dem Klimawandel

Wir würden gerne noch höher liegen. Skigebiete unter 1400m sind gefährdet, das Risiko von warmen Wochen und Starkregen im Winter steigt in den nächsten 10 - 20 Jahren. Da wir das als Langlaufschule nicht ändern können, bauen wir weiterhin auf unsere Strategie, jeweils nicht alleine vom Langlaufunterricht abhängig zu sein. Wir ergänzen uns als Team mit unterschiedlichen Haupt-Jobs, und genießen im Winter einen der schönsten Nebenjobs der Welt.

Soziales - Fairness als Tourismus-Arbeitgeber

  • Als Rückgrat unserer Einsatzplanung verwenden wir ein agiles flexibles Arbeitszeitmodell. Dieses funktioniert so, dass wir als Basis eine Bedarfsschätzung über die Wintermonate legen. Dazu plant jede*r selbst, wann sie/er arbeiten kann und möchte, entsprechend zum vorhandenen Bedarf. Im Idealfall, der gottseidank häufig der Fall ist passen dann Angebot und Nachfrage zusammen.
  • Unsere Entlohnung liegt klar über dem Kollektivvertrag der Skilehrer, und ist abhängig von der Qualifikation. Gender-pay-gap -2%: 2024/25 lag der Durchschnittslohn von 14 Lehrerinnen knapp über dem der 11 Lehrer. Das war allerdings ein Zufall, für gleiche Ausbildung und gleiche Leistung verdient man geschlechtsunabhängig gleich viel. Dass die Entlohnung deutlich unter den Unterrichtspreisen liegt, stammt aus zahlreichen Abgaben und Fixkosten, die in Österreich sehr hoch sind. Natürlich freut man sich also sehr über ein Trinkgeld nach dem Unterricht.
  • Berufliche Weiterbildungen: In der Langlaufschule führen wir diese am Winterbeginn und fallweise während der Saison durch, ergänzend zu den Ausbildungen des Schilehrerverbandes (Anwärter, Landeslehrer, Diplomlehrer) bzw. BSPA (Instruktor). Interne und externe Kurse ergaben 2024/25 durchschnittlich über 20 langlaufspezifische Weiterbildungsstunden pro Person. 
  • In unserer Team-Zusammenarbeit ist uns Offenheit, Wertschätzung und Rücksicht sehr wichtig. Wir haben uns eine Reihe von Spielregeln vereinbart, die Teil der Zusammenarbeitsvereinbarung sind.

The greatest portion of our clients comes from Germany and Austria,   followed by Swizzerland, Benelux, Italy, Great Britain, and all other   countries.

Most important business partnerships are our cooperation with the   sports shop ant the same site, the local authority providing skiing tracks   & preparation, partner companies and public authorities organizing XC   skiing camps in cooperation with us. Besides this, we run a partnership with   our ski anc clothing providers, who have a very good sustainable sourcing and   production background.

Comment about high impact topic tourism travel: We did rough calculations. Therefore distances were evaluated according to the home country of our guests. Afterwards we calculated with official statistical values about transportation (flights, public transport, cars, e-cars), fixed transport type for certain home locations (long distance flights). So we got a total guest distance per transport type, and a total carbon footprint for the journey of our guests. This footprint was divided throuh average spendings during a holiday with average duration (official data of tourism statistics), and multiplied with the average spendings for XC-skiing instruction. Based on this calculation we think, that the values give a good picture about the magnitude.

C3 – GHG reduction targets and climate transition
54.   If the undertaking has established GHG emission reduction targets, it shall   disclose its targets in absolute values for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions. In   line with paragraphs 50 to 53 above and if it has set Scope 3 reduction   targets, the undertaking shall also provide targets for significant Scope 3   emissions. In particular, it shall provide:
(a)   the target year and target year value; (b) the base year and base year value;   (c) the units used for targets; (d) the share of Scope 1, Scope 2 and, if   disclosed, Scope 3 that the target concerns; and

risks Due   to climate change, skiing areas below 1400m altitude are expected to be   severely challenged regarding enough snowfall and melting due to increased   warm periods including rainy days.
     In the last years, we had problematic winters 22/23 and 23/24 with a season   end mid march, in earlier years this used to be end of march, so   approximately 1/10 of the season already got lost. Winters are getting   shorter 1 day per year and warmer throughout the winter, still with   potentially cold periods and extreme snowfalls in between.
(b) disclose how it has assessed the exposure and sensitivity of   its assets, activities and value chain to these hazards and transition   events; We   gained experiences of recent very warm, rainy winters during el Nino 2023/24,   and good winters like 2024/25. The effects on XC shop and XC skiing school   were collected, and we assessed the risks of organizational factors that,   together with climate change, could bring us into critical financial   situations. Plans are not disclosed.
